Leather 101

Did You Know?

  • If your 8.1.2 leather product gets wet, it is best to allow it to air dry.
  • Always stuff your leather bag with something to preserve its shape.
  • You should never machine wash leather products or place them in the dryer.
  • The leather will feel stiff and dry when it needs a little attention.
  • The cleaner or conditioner you choose should not contain caustic chemicals, harmful abrasives or leave any greasy residue behind.
  • To remove dirt, grime or surface residue use a soft, damp (not wet) cloth. Gently rub - don't scrub - for removal.

    Some Age Old Tricks

These simple tips have been practiced for generations, however, it is always good practice to test anything new on a small, hidden spot before you apply it on the whole product.

    • 8.1.2 leather products can be tanned using natural oils. This method is 100% eco-friendly!
    • Always ensure that the natural oils used to tan leather are odorless and colorless.
    • Avoid using coconut oil to tan leather as it will leave a white residue upon drying especially if you live in a cold climate.
    • You can use your finger tips to gently rub out small scratches on leather. The natural oils in your skin will remove most small marks or scratches.
    • Always store your leather merchandise in a well ventilated area. Never keep leather products in sealed plastic bags for long periods of time.
